SDM recommends withholding salaries of 26 absentee government employees

The sub divisional magistrate (SDM) of Nainital, Manish Kumar has recommended to the district magistrate Dhiraaj Singh Garbyal to withhold the salaries of 26 absentee government employees after conducting a surprise inspection on Thursday. The officials said that the Nainital DM was getting complaints for the past few months about government employees and officers being frequently absent from their offices. Taking cognisance of the matter, the DM directed the SDM to conduct a surprise inspection of the government premises. Following the order, SDM Manish Kumar visited the offices of 13 government departments to conduct a surprise inspection and found out that a total of 26 government officers and employees were absent without any valid reason, as per the officials. The SDM informed that eight employees were absent in the district industry centre, four each in the district probation office and Public Works Department (PWD), three were absent in the State veterinary hospital, two employees each were absent in the RTO office and another department and one each in the Irrigation department, Child Development and Jal Sansthan.  Kumar said all employees have been directed to come to their respective workplaces on time and stay there during their work hours. He said that he has submitted a report of the inspection to the DM seeking action against the 26 absentees. The SDM said that he has also recommended the DM to hold the salaries of these employees.
