SSP exhorts student leaders for violence-free election

The Dehradun senior superintendent of police (SSP) Daleep Singh Kunwar has asked the potential candidates of student union elections of DAV PG College, DBS PG Colleges and other colleges to create history by conducting violence-free elections this year. 

The SSP along with district administration officials conducted a meeting with the potential candidates of the student union elections of prominent PG colleges of the city on Friday considering that violence has been part of these elections in one way or another for the past several years.  He said that the police will not tolerate any kind of violent activities during elections and relevant charges will be imposed against the guilty party on occurrence of any criminal activity.

He said that the authorities will not allow or tolerate any unnecessary interference of any person or outside elements in the election. He appealed to the candidates to contest election on positive terms in order to work for students’ welfare in their respective colleges. He asked them to co-operate with the authorities in ensuring that the elections would be held in amicable and peaceful manner without any violation of law. The candidates promised the officials to give their full cooperation to make sure elections are held peacefully.
