The post office department will conduct a special five-day campaign in the State from February 20 for citizens interested in Small Savings Schemes under the financial inclusion drive of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. All citizens interested in saving schemes including SB / RD / SCSS / SSA / TD / PPF MIS can visit their nearest post office to know more about schemes and open their account. The officials informed that the Indian Postal Department is running such small savings schemes under the campaign in different phases with the main focus on villages.

The department opened one crore of accounts every day from January 28 to 31 and subsequently opened accounts of 7.5 lakh girls under the Sukanya Samriddhi scheme.    The department has opened the accounts of nearly 11 lakh young girls across the country so far and about 15,000 girls in Uttarakhand. The officials informed that the central government has recently increased interest rates for this quarter in all the savings schemes.

Apart from this, the next instalment of the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi scheme will also be deposited in the accounts of the beneficiaries by the end of this month. Considering this, all such farmers who have no bank account must open their account in the nearest office to be the beneficiary of the scheme, as per the officials.
