Make all police stations women-friendly: DGP

The Director General of Police (DGP) Ashok Kumar has asked all district in-charges to make all the police stations women-friendly and directed them to appoint one woman sub-inspector and four women constables in each police station of the State. He stated this in a review meeting of various operational and administrative works of the police department on Tuesday. Several district in-charges and zonal officers attended the meeting through video conference. He directed the officials to make a woman sub-inspector in-charge of police stations or outposts in each district. He also asked the officials concerned to work in increasing the registration of women in Gaura Shakti app and coordinate with the registered women to ensure they feel comfortable and safe when they approach police with complaints. Considering recent scams in recruitment examinations, the DGP directed the officials to keep a tight security system in upcoming examinations held under UKSSSC and UKPSC. He instructed them to keep the local information system alert to get information on any possible malpractice. The DGP also addressed the issue of police personnel being suspended without investigation due to public outrage and other causes in the meeting. He said that in such cases, suspended police personnel should be given a chance to present his/ her side within three days and if he or she is not proven guilty during this time, they should be immediately reinstated to their old post or posted at another place. He also directed the police station in-charges of those villages which were recently brought under regular police system from revenue police system to conduct tours in their respective areas to interact with locals to know their problems. He said that new police stations in these areas would open soon.
