Says State also encouraging snow wedding concept
The Tourism and Culture minister Satpal Maharaj has said that people from across the country and abroad visit Uttarakhand to spend the first day of the year in the mountainous regions. He said that visiting the mountains in Uttarakhand is a very good choice to make the first day of the new year memorable. Exhorting the tourists to visit Uttarakhand for celebrating the New Year, Maharaj said that if the weather goes as expected, tourists will be able to enjoy snowfall in the mountainous regions in the coming days. “I request the tourists that before coming to Uttarakhand for celebrating the New Year, they should make their bookings on time in hotels and homestays. Those who do not make their bookings on time may find it difficult to find accommodation in hotels or camps,” he said.
The minister said that tourists generally visit Dehradun, Mussoorie, Dhanaulti, Chakrata, Auli, Lansdowne, Nainital, Mukteshwar, Kausani and other places to celebrate the New Year. This year too a large number of tourists are expected to arrive in the State on the occasion. He said that the government is also encouraging snow-wedding in Uttarakhand with couples from across the nation coming here to get married amidst the snow. People planning to get married are contacting the authorities consistently to get married at Nainital, Almora, Mussoorie, Joshimath and Triyuginarayan while enquiring about the places where snowfall is likely in the coming days.
