Tirath Singh Rawat to be Uttarakhand’s new CM

Swearing-in at 04:00 PM at Raj Bhawan today

Garhwal MP Tirath Singh Rawat will be the new chief minister of Uttarakhand. Rawat’s name was finalised after the meeting of the BJP legislature party which was also attended by the party’s central observer Raman Singh, party’s state in-charge Dushyant Kumar Gautam, union minister Ramesh Pokhriyal ‘Nishank’, outgoing CM Trivendra Singh Rawat and the party MPs. His name was proposed by the outgoing CM.

Announcement of his name as the state’s new chief minister came as a surprise as most political pundits were not counting him among those likely to be made the CM. The party announced that Rawat will take the oath of office and secrecy at the Raj Bhawan at 4 PM today.
