USCW asks DGP to take strict action in rape case

The chairperson of Uttarakhand State Commission for Women (USCW) Kusum Kandwal has asked the director general of police Ashok Kumar to take strict action in the case of a woman from Ghaziabad being raped in Roorkee. She said that the commission came to know about a case in which a woman resident of Ghaziabad had come to Roorkee and was raped repeatedly by a local man. Kandwal said that it was reported that the accused allegedly drugged the woman and raped her.

Regarding this Kandwal informed that she asked the DGP to ensure strict action as soon as possible. She said that the DGP assured her that the police will take strict action against the accused. In addition, she said that she has talked to the senior superintendent of police of Haridwar, Ajai Singh regarding the matter. Such cases in the State are shameful and sensitive along with affecting society in a negative way, she added.
