Harish Rawat’s vow of silence against budget session in Doon

Monday, 26 February 2024 | PNS | DEHRADUN

In latest news from Doon, the former chief minister and Congress veteran Harish Rawat observed an hour’s token vow of silence in Gandhi Park, protesting against what he termed humiliation hurled on Gairsain by the BJP government through holding the budget session in Dehradun.  In his broadside aimed at the government, Rawat said that several resolutions, including pledge to hold budget sessions in Gairsain, had been passed in the Vidhan Sabha during his tenure as the chief minister.  He sarcastically said that the reason why the session was being held in Dehradun instead of Gairsain was the cold climate in the latter.  “It is a great misfortune for the Himalayan State that here the people’s representatives feel the cold a little more than others,” he said.  A number of State party leaders and activists were present at the site where the veteran was staging his silent stir.
