GDMC to resume operations from Monday

The hospital was converted into a dedicated Covid hospital in March 2020 and only Covid-19 patients were admitted and treated here.

After a gap of eleven months, the surgical processes and operations would resume at the biggest hospital of the state in the government sector, the Government Doon Medical College (GDMC) hospital from February 15.  The Principal of the college, Dr Ashutosh Sayana took a meeting with the head of departments on Saturday and directed them to start operations from Monday. He said that the doctors and staff members of all the departments have made the necessary preparations. The decision would help the patients of Surgery, orthopaedics, gynaecology, ophthalmology and ENT.

It is worth mentioning here that the GDMC hospital was converted into a dedicated Covid hospital in March 2020 and only Covid-19 patients were admitted and treated here. In view of the reduction in the number of Covid-19 cases the hospital is now moving ahead in the direction of restoring all its services. The hospital authorities started OPDs in the month of December and from February 1, the In-house Patients (IPD) were admitted.

The hospital would continue to provide treatment of Covid-19 patients. Separate facilities for Covid and Non Covid patients would be provided.
