Swasthya Chintan Shivir starts in Dehradun

Health ministers, MPs & officers of health department to brainstorm on health issues

The two-day Swasthya Chintan Shivir, a meeting of the health ministers of the States and the union territories started in the provisional State capital Dehradun on Friday. The event, which is the 15th conference of the Central Council of Health and Family welfare (CCHFW) was inaugurated by the union health and family welfare minister Mansukh Mandaviya.  Addressing the Shivir in the inaugural session Mandaviya said, “This Shivir can provide us with an opportunity to deep dive into different issues of health sector.  In this Amrit Kaal, let us take an inspiration from our own knowledge, and develop our own health model. We should resolve to remove burden of diseases such as Leprosy, TB and Sickle Cell Anaemia.’’

He said that the Shivir is a national meeting which enables sharing of insights, best practices, valuable experiences and suggestions from various states to enrich the policies of the government. 

Exhorting the participants to share their ideas the union minister said that best results can be derived from the Shivir and hoped that the two-day event will deliver outcomes that will go a long way in providing healthcare solutions to the nation. Speaking on the occasion, the chief minister of Uttarakhand Pushkar Singh Dhami said that the deliberations will help to provide definite focus to speedy implementation of government’s health policies.  He said that the Atal Ayushman Yojana is providing health security to poor and needy sections of the country.  In context of the geological terrain of the State he said that schemes such as E-sanjeevani has expanded the scope of health services through use of technology. Dhami said that the  world is now moving towards the ancient health practices and emphasised on ‘One Earth, One Health’ policy.

 The health minister of Uttarakhand Dhan Singh Rawat welcomed the guests and said that the State is feeling honoured to host the event.  The Union Health Secretary, Rajesh Bhushan gave an overview of the sessions for the next two days which will cover various facets of healthcare in India today. Books such as ‘Compendium of Best Practices, Ayushman Bharat, Health and wellness centres- success stories from the field, research to action-The insights and policy implications, and Recommendations for medical rehabilitation of persons Injured after an earthquake were released at the inaugural event. The CM of Sikkim, Prem Singh Tamang, union ministers of state (MoS) for Health Bharati Pravin Pawar, and SP Singh Baghel, health ministers of many states and union territories, the Member (health) NITI Aayog, Dr VK Paul and others also attended the ceremony.
