Saturday, 15 JULY 2023 | PNS | DEHRADUN

Taking cognisance of complaints of overrating in liquor shops, the Dehradun district magistrate Sonika has directed the Excise department to investigate the complaints and impose hefty penalties on the guilty party. She also directed them to ensure that CCTV cameras are installed outside every liquor shop to make surveillance and monitoring easy. The DM held a meeting with heads of various departments of the district including police, excise and revenue and food supply among others. She ordered the district supply officer to investigate the complaints of shortage of food items in ration shops and ensure that CCTV cameras are installed there too. During the review of police department-related cases like kidnapping, dowry, rape, and cases under the POCSO Act, she directed the officials concerned to prepare and advocate effectively for such cases. She also directed all sub divisional magistrates and tehsildars to coordinate with the respective station house officers and circle officers of the police and communicate with them daily to stay aware of all kinds of incidents happening in their respective areas. The better coordination will help in the quick processing of relief and rescue operations during disasters and other emergency situations, added Sonika.
