DGP directs officials to ensure smooth traffic during Char Dham Yatra

Considering the ensuing Char Dham Yatra and tourism season, the State’s Director General of Police (DGP) Ashok Kumar has directed district-level police officials and zonal incharges to make arrangements to ensure smooth traffic operation across the state. He conducted a virtual meeting on Tuesday with the officials in which he discussed the traffic arrangements during Char Dham Yatra and peak tourism season reviewed the progress of a special campaign being run by the police for speedy disposal of seized and unclaimed vehicles which can be disposed of from premises of police stations as per the norms. He said that the campaign will be run till May 31 and the officials concerned should ensure maximum disposal of such vehicles in order to clear up the premises.

The Police Headquarters (PHQ) will review the campaign progress of each police station during the duration of the campaign. The department will reward those police station in-charges who would excel in the campaign whereas action will be taken against those who would remain negligent throughout the campaign. The DGP directed the district in-charges to coordinate with courts and respective district magistrates (DMs) for the disposal of such vehicles through auctions and other means as per the rules and legal provisions. He has also directed the officials to make suitable arrangements to ensure smooth traffic operation during Char Dham Yatra and tourism season.

Besides this, he also instructed SSP Haridwar and Garhwal zonal in-charge to make proper arrangements to manage crowd and traffic on Baisakhi.
