Damaged schools, colleges to be repaired by disaster funds: Rawat

The State government has decided to repair the damaged buildings of the schools and colleges from the budget meant for disaster mitigation. A decision in this regard was taken in the meeting of the officers of education and higher education departments in the State secretariat on Tuesday.

The meeting was chaired by education minister Dhan Singh Rawat. He said that there are hundreds of such buildings of schools and colleges in the State which need repair. Rawat such schools would be provided a budget under the disaster head so that the work can be done under the monitoring of district education committees. 

Rawat said that books banks should be established in all the schools to provide books to the students before the start of the session. The minister also directed that a contract with the NCERT Delhi should be signed for timely publication of the text books. The meeting was attended by chief secretary S S Sandhu, secretary higher education Shailesh Bagoli, secretary legal, Narendra Dutt, director general (DG) school education Bansidhar Tiwari and others.
