Covid contagion getting deadlier in Uttarakhand

18 deaths, 1,840 new cases reported on Tuesday

The contagion of the novel Coronavirus (Covid-19) is continuing to remain deadly in Uttarakhand. On Tuesday the state health department reported the death of 18 patients from the disease from different parts of the state.  It also reported 1,840 new cases of the disease on the day. 

The state health department has so far detected 78,141 new cases of the disease from January 1 this year till date. A total of 48,774 patients have recovered from the disease so far in this year while 146 patients have died in the state since January 1 this year. On Tuesday 26,009 samples were sent to the laboratory for testing by the authorities.  The recovery percentage of the disease was at 62.42 per cent on Tuesday. The positivity rate of the disease was reported at 6.91 per cent on the day.  

The authorities reported the death of five patients at Mahant Indiresh Hospital Dehradun on Tuesday while two patients each were reported dead at Dr Sushila Tiwari government hospital Haldwani and District Hospital Uttarkashi on the day. One patient each died at All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) Rishikesh, Government Doon Medical College (GDMC) hospital Dehradun, Kailash hospital, Military hospital Dehradun, Synergy hospital, Vinay Vishal hospital Haridwar, MH Roorkee and Central hospital Haldwani on Tuesday.

 The health department reported 595 new patients from Dehradun, 229 from Haridwar, 210 from Nainital, 183 from Almora, 101 from Rudraprayag, 98 from Pithoragarh, 93 from Udham Singh Nagar, 77 from Chamoli, 67 from Bageshwar, 58 from Pauri, 47 from Uttarkashi, 42 from Tehri and 40 from Champawat on Tuesday.

The active case count of Covid-19 in the state is now at 26,814. Dehradun with 13,758 cases is at the top of the table of active cases while Haridwar has 3,521 active cases of the disease which is followed by Pauri district with 2,352 active cases. Uttarkashi is at the bottom of the table with 208 active cases of the disease.  In the ongoing vaccination drive 1,47,968 people were vaccinated in 1800 sessions in the state held on Tuesday.
