Covid-19; 33 new cases, 140 recoveries in U’khand

The state health department reported only 33 new cases of the novel Coronavirus (Covid-19) and 140 recoveries from the disease in Uttarakhand on Wednesday.  Death of one patient from Covid-19 was reported on the day by the department.

The cumulative count of Covid-19 patients in the state has now increased to 3,41,307 while a total of 3,27,252 patients have recovered from the disease so far. In the state 7352 people have lost their lives to Covid -19 till date. The recovery percentage from the disease is now at 95.88 and the sample positivity rate is at 5.80 per cent in the state. The authorities collected 24,548 samples in different parts of the state on Wednesday.

The department reported eight new patients from Dehradun, six from Almora, five each from Haridwar and Pithoragarh and three from Nainital and one each from Chamoli, Champawat, Pauri, Rudraprayag, Udham Singh Nagar and Uttarkashi districts on Wednesday. No new cases of the disease were found from Tehri and Bageshwar districts on the day. Death of one patient of the disease was reported at HNB base hospital Srinagar on the day.

The state now has only 711 active patients of the disease. Dehradun district is at top of the table in the list of active cases with 265 cases while Haridwar in the second position with 70 active cases. Pithoragarh has 48, Pauri 47, Rudraprayag 45, Chamoli 44, Udham Singh Nagar and Champawat 37 each, Tehri 29, Uttarkashi 27, Almora 17 and Bageshwar only two active cases of the disease.

The state reported four new cases of Mucormycosis (Black fungus) on Wednesday and death of one patient from the disease on the day. A total of 534 patients of the disease have so far been reported in the state out of which 107 have died. 

In the ongoing vaccination drive, the health department vaccinated 61,701 people in 378 sessions held on Wednesday.  A total of 10,52,334 people have been fully vaccinated so far in the state while 39,66,316 have received the first dose of the vaccine in the state.
