Covid-19: 296 new cases, 12 deaths reported in U’khand

Vaccination drive gathers momentum in state

The state health department reported 296 new cases of novel Coronavirus (Covid-19) on Monday and 12 deaths from the disease. The cumulative count of patients in the state has now increased to 3,37,175. The state health department also reported recovery of 990 patients on the day. A total of 3,20,549 patients have so far recovered from the disease. The recovery percentage is now at 95.07 percent while the sample positivity rate is 6.55 percent. The department took samples of 23,304 patients on the day for Covid -19 testing.

Out of the 12 deaths reported on the day, six patients died at All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) Rishikesh while two patients each  succumbed to  the disease at Government Doon Medical College (GDMC) Dehradun and Aarogyadham hospital Dehradun.

 The provisional state capital Dehradun reported 76, Haridwar 64, Uttarkashi 37, Udham Singh Nagar 24, Almora and Nainital 21 each, Pauri 11, Chamoli 10, Rudraprayag nine, Bageshwar eight, Champawat and Pithoragarh seven each, and Tehri one new cases of the disease on Monday.

The state now has 3,908 active patients of the disease. Pithoragarh district is at top of the table in the list of active cases now with 691 cases while Haridwar is in second position with 504 active cases. Pauri has 458, Almora 421, Champawat 269, Tehri 240, Nainital 226, Chamoli 212, Dehradun 197, Rudraprayag 166, Uttarkashi 150 and Udham Singh Nagar 113 active cases of the disease. 

 The state reported 10 new cases of Mucormycosis (Black fungus) on Monday after which it now has 400 patients of the disease. Death of one patient from Black Fungus was also reported on the day. A total of 67 patients have so far died from this disease while 42 have recovered. 

The vaccination drive gathered some momentum on Monday as 55,948 people were vaccinated in 521 sessions in different parts of the state on Monday. A total of 7,05,183 people have been fully vaccinated while 26,61,417  have received the first dose of the vaccine in the state.
