Under the ongoing ‘Jai Bharat Satyagrah’ programme the workers and leaders of Uttarakhand Congress would write postcards to the Prime Minister and chief minister daily. The programme was formally inaugurated by Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) president Karan Mahara at Congress Bhawan on Saturday.

Interacting with the media persons, Mahara said that the democracy and the constitution are being stifled in the country and the government agencies are being used to suppress the opposition parties in the country. He said that under the ‘ Jai Bharat Satyagrah’ the party would also organise corner meetings and discussion over a cup of tea. He said that the BJP leaders have used unparliamentary language from public platforms on many occasions and have sullied the image of the leaders of opposition parties. The Uttarakhand Congress would collect the statements of these leaders and register cases of defamation at the district level. The PCC president launched the ‘today’s letter’ programme by releasing a postcard written to the PM.

In the letter the PM is informed that the democracy and the democratic institutions are getting weakened in the country. The Congress leaders also express their commitment to save democracy in the letter.

The chairman of the disciplinary committee of Uttarakhand Congress Nav Prabhat said that the important national and State level issues would be complied with data and sent to the PM. He listed the deteriorating law and order situation, unemployment, border security, problems of farmers, increasing atrocities on the SC and STs as some of the issues which would be taken up in the programme.

The chief spokesperson of Uttarakhand Congress Garima Dasauni, Mahanagar president Jaswinder Gogi, Virendra Pokhriyal, Seespal Bisht and others were present on the occasion.
