Avoid temptation to consume oily foods in rainy weather

With rainy weather and lower temperatures becoming the trend during summer in Dehradun and elsewhere in the State, most people are tempted to consume pakodas and other fried food items to enjoy the weather. However, experts point out that people should avoid oily and fried foods as such items can have a detrimental effect on the digestive system.

Dietician Richa Kukreti said, “During the rainy season people start craving for fried foods like pakodas, samosas and fries. However, this is the time where the digestive system tends to become sluggish so it is better to avoid fried foods at such a time. Eating oily foods causes gas and constipation in general while some people may face skin allergies and acne problems after eating oily food. Instead of eating oily food, people must add some light diet during the rainy period.”

She further said that it’s better to have vegetable soup, green tea or chicken soup especially in this weather. Moreover, one should avoid eating street food as such items tend to be stale. “One should avoid eating heavy food especially during such times. One should consume a lot of fluids and eat fibres,” she added.
