CM kick-starts seed bomb campaign week

Chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami inaugurated the seed bomb campaign week at his camp office on Saturday. The campaign is being organised by the Himalaya Paryavaran Jadi Booti Agro Sansthan from July 9 to 15. Appreciating the campaign, the CM said that the organisation is doing commendable work under the leadership of Dwarika Prasad Semwal. He said the seed bomb campaign is a step in the direction of reducing the human- wildlife conflict. The CM said that the bio diversity is getting affected with time and the seed bomb campaign is a good experiment for availability of food for wild animals in forests. He added that the seed bomb campaign is scientifically operated and involves very less expense. He said that the seed bomb campaign should be taken to the masses for success.

 Dhami said that any campaign becomes big and successful only by the involvement of the general public. He said that every one of us should deeply ponder over what we can do for environmental conservation and protection so that the environment remains preserved for our future generations.

He said that the state government is working in the direction of conservation of ecology and Gross Environmental Production (GEP) of Uttarakhand is being assessed. The state government is trying to strike a balance between the ecology and economy, he said. 

Dhami said that Uttarakhand would celebrate the silver jubilee of its creation in the year 2025 and the state government is working in the direction of making Uttarakhand one of the leading states of the country in different fields. He said that special focus is needed to work out what those associated with different departments; institutes and social sectors can do for the interests of the state. Dhami said that the state government is seeking suggestions from experts of different fields by organising a series of thoughts and expressions under the Bodhisattva programme.

The CM also released a book ‘Himalayai Jan Sarokar’ based on environmental conservation on the occasion.

Former minister Mohan Singh Rawat ‘Gaonwasi’, founder of seed bomb campaign Dwarika Prasad Semwal,   former head of forest force Jairaj, Pauri CDO Prashant Arya, vice chancellor of SGRR University U S Rawat, MS Panwar, MSM Rawat, Arvind Darmoda and others were present on the occasion.
