State witnesses 65.37 per cent voter turnout

The State witnessed a voter turnout of 65.37 per cent in the polling for the Assembly election held on Monday. The final figure was released on Wednesday after compiling all the data from polling teams after their return from their place of deployment. The Haridwar district registered the highest voter turnout among the 13 districts at 74.77 per cent. Among the other districts, Uttarkashi registered 68.48 per cent voter turnout whereas it was 62.38 per cent in Chamoli, 63.16 per cent in Rudraprayag, 56.34 per cent in Tehri district, 63.69 per cent in Dehradun district, 54.87 per cent in Pauri district, 60.88 in Pithoragarh district, 63 per cent in Bageshwar district, 53.71 per cent in Almora district, 62.66 per cent in Champawat district, 66.35 per cent in Nainital district and 72.27 in Udham Singh Nagar district.

Out of the total 8,17,2173 voters in the state the polling day witnessed a total of 5,34,2462 voters casting their votes in the Assembly elections. Out of the total voters who exercised their franchise on the occasion, 2,65,3642 were male while 2,64,2930 were females along with 73 transgenders and 45,817 postal ballots.
