PCC president Mahara condemns outfit for party office gherao

The heat of the upcoming assembly elections in Karnataka has reached Uttarakhand with the Bajrang Dal activists staging a protest outside the headquarters of Uttarakhand Congress on Thursday and the Congress workers confronting them. The Congress party in its election manifesto in Karnataka had promised to ban organisations such as Bajrang Dal after which the political temperatures soared. The BJP linked it with the insult of lord Hanuman. As per their plan, the activists of Bajrang Dal started their march to gherao the Congress office from Clock Tower. The police stopped them near the Congress office. A meeting of Mahanagar Congress was going on at the party office and the Congress workers present there confronted the Bajrang Dal activists. The police personnel had a hard time in preventing a clash between the Congress and Bajrang Dal workers.

Congress to chant Hanuman Chalisa today
Countering the assault of BJP, the Uttarakhand Congress has decided to hold recital of Hanuman Chalisa in the district and block headquarters of the State on Friday for good sense to prevail on the BJP government. The State vice president of the Congress Mathura Dutt Joshi said that the PCC president Karan Mahara has given a call for the Congress workers to chant Hanuman Chalisa. The recitals would be held in all districts, Mahanagar, blocks and city offices of the party.

Reacting strongly to the Bajrang Dal protest, the Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) president Karan Mahara said that difference in opinion in democracy is natural but the manner in which Bajrang Dal is uploading provocative posts against the Congress party is highly unacceptable. He said that the sloganeering and gherao done by the Bajrang Dal workers is deplorable. Mahara said that Congress is a 137 year old party and it has a glorious history. He said that the BJP should tender an apology for the act of Bajrang Dal workers. “Where were the  Bajrang Dal workers when the protests were going on in the Ankita Bhandari murder case and what role did they have in providing justice to Kiran Negi,’’ he asked. Mahara said that the Bajrang Dal was missing when the youngsters were brutally lathicharged in Dehradun. He added that there is gross mismanagement at Badrinath and Kedarnath but the so called flag bearers of Hinduism are not helping the pilgrims.
