DIT students win debate completion at DAV PG College

The event was organised in the memory of the educationist and former chairperson of UP Vidhan Parishad, Virendra Swaroop.

In the first physical (off line) event after it was opened after the Covid-19 enforced closure , an inter college debate competition was organised at DAV PG college here on Friday. The event was organised in the memory of the educationist and former chairperson of Uttar Pradesh Vidhan Parishad, Virendra Swaroop. In the debate 28 contestants belonging to 14 colleges expressed their view for and against the topic ‘this house is of the opinion that the provision of autonomous institutes in the new education policy 2020 is a blessing for higher education’.  The chief guest of the event was the Director General (DG) of Uttarakhand police Ashok Kumar. Speaking on the occasion he said that events like debate are very important for development of mental faculty in the students. He expressed the need to organise more such events. The Principal of DAV PG College, Ajay Saxena said that Late Virendra Swaroop had a keen interest in competitions like debates and he always encouraged the students to always learn new things.

The students of DIT University won the team event while Ritika Rupam of DIT University was adjudged first in individual category.

The convener of the competition was Omika Verma while Rakhi Upadhayaya of Hindi department, Usha Pathak of education department and Shikha Nagalia of department of Economics were the judges.
