Those from other States who are working and residing in Uttarakhand will also have to submit an affidavit regarding the genuineness of their documents along with the general information provided for verification. Further, the person concerned will also have to present a verification report/character certificate from the native place. These documents will have to be presented to the police police station through the landlord or manager.

According to information provided by the police headquarters, amendments have been made to the standard operating procedure (SOP) for the physical verification of people from other States working and residing in Uttarakhand. Those who violate this will face action under section 83 of Uttarakhand Police Act 2007. Further, a case will be lodged and legal action will be taken against any person who presents fabricated documents or false affidavits. The State’s director general of police Ashok Kumar informed that verification reports are not being received for some of the forms related to verification sent to other States.  Due to this, the police are unable to validate the documents submitted by the persons concerned. The amendment made in the verification SOP will make the process stringent and enable the police to keep an eye on dubious persons and take necessary action, he added.
