Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Ajay Kothiyal along with some other party members was arrested near the Raj Bhawan when they were staging a protest against Uttarakhand government on Friday. The party members marched towards the chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami’s residence as according to them, they wanted to ask him if MLAs and ministers can get free electricity, why not the public of Uttarakhand.

However, the police barricaded the route and stopped the party members. The police later took Kothiyal along with some other party members into custody and presented them before the city magistrate later in the evening. The city magistrate granted bail to all on a personal surety of Rs 20,000 and assigned the date of August 16 for the next hearing of the case.

On one of his social media posts, Kothiyal said that he and his party members were just demanding basic amenities for the public here but it appears that it is a crime in Uttarakhand. He further added that their fight for ‘Navnirman’ of Uttarakhand is not easy but they will continue to fight for public rights.
