93,187 service voters in State’s five LS constituencies

There are a total of 93,187 service voters in the five Lok Sabha constituencies in the State. Addressing the media here on Sunday, the State’s additional chief electoral officer Vijay Kumar Jogdande informed that out of the total service voters for the Lok Sabha election 2024, Garhwal parliamentary constituency has the highest number with 34,845 followed by 29,105 in Almora-Pithoragarh constituency,12,862 in Tehri constituency, 10,629 in Nainital-Udham Singh Nagar constituency and 5,746 in the Haridwar constituency. The e-postal ballot process has been completed for all the service voters.

The army officers in the unit offices of the service voters have been requested to make the postal ballots available to them, facilitate their voting through postal ballots and sending the same to the returning officer concerned. Jogdange informed that the Election Commission is making attempts to ensure about cent per cent voting by the service voters. He further said that during the last Lok Sabha election out of the 90,845 service voters in the State, postal ballots were received from 63,222 service voters, which was about 70 per cent of the total service voters.

The postal ballots should reach the returning officer by 8 AM on the day of counting of votes and the postal ballots received after this deadline will not be counted, he said. The additional CEO further said that various arrangements will be made to maintain electoral transparency in the 11,729 polling booths made in the State. Barricading is being arranged in 5,898 polling booths in the State while micro observers and videography will also be facilitated in some polling booths in the State, he added.
