In latest Uttarakhand news, as the State Women Congress chief Jyoti Rautela reached Pithoragarh with the Prime Minister Narendra Modi being present there, police kept her under constant surveillance. However, taking strong exceptions to the police shadowing her movements, she wondered whether an opposition leader could not be present where the PM was present. She said that this was highly condemnable and against the norms of democracy. Once she reached the house of the Pithoragarh district Congress chief a police team turned up and kept her under surveillance since. Explaining such actions on the part of the police, a senior district police officer said that they were apprehensive lest she went for any kind of protest against the PM during his scheduled programmes in the district.
