Observe precautions to prevent influenza-A subtype H3N2: Maharaj

2.67 lakh devotees have registered for Badrinath and Kedarnath so far

 The risk of influenza-A sub-variant H3N2 is rapidly increasing.It is therefore imperative that everyone abides by the government’s rules while also using hand sanitisers and masks to avoid it. Due to the rising risk posed by sub-variant H3N2, the administration has published guidelines for the usage of masks and hand sanitisers in order to prevent the virus from spreading to inhabitants of Uttarakhand and visitors to the State. The Tourism and Culture minister Satpal Maharaj said, “As it is anticipated that the Char Dham Yatra will draw many more pilgrims than it did last year, it is crucial to take precautions in advance due to the rising possibility of influenza-A subtype of H3N2”.

The minister said that 1,47,240 people have registered for Kedarnath and 1,20,194 for Badrinath.

Amidst the Char Dham Yatra preparations, the Tourism department has been working to ensure the desired level of arrangements for the pilgrimage season. Booking for the guest houses owned by the Garhwal Mandal Vikas Nigam (GMVN) began on February 16 and as on March 13 bookings amounting to Rs 4.33 crore have been completed.
