Army and volunteers start clearing snow off Hemkund route

With the weather clearing, the army personnel have started clearing snow from the path to Hemkund Sahib- Lokpal Mandir. The 35-member team of the army is clearing snow and cutting glaciers on the route to the pilgrimage centres in this high altitude area of Chamoli district. The army team and volunteers of the Gurudwara are staying at Ghanghariya and walking about three kilometres daily on the route to clear the snow.Senior manager of the Gurudwara, Sewa Singh informed that the army personnel along with Sewadars of the Gurudwara have started clearing the snow from the route. The portals of Hemkund Sahib Gurudwar and Lokpal Mandir are slated to be reopened to the devotees on May 25, for which the authorities have stepped up the preparations.
