The chief secretary Uttarakhand S S Sandhu held a meeting with the senior officials of National Highways Authority of India and road transport and highways ministry to discuss the proposed bypass connecting Haridwar with Rishikesh. The CS later asked the officers to prepare a project report on the matter. Sandhu said that these places hold immense importance-one as a place of pilgrimage and the other as the yoga capital of the world. He said that though these are two different towns there must be a joint project to connect these two places. He said that it must a long-term project involving at least 50 to 60 years.
