Traffic plan issue for New Year celebrations

The police have made various arrangements and issued a traffic plan for December 31 and January 1 for the convenience of tourists and the locals in Dehradun district. According to the traffic plan, those coming to Mussoorie from Delhi/Roorkee/Saharanpur will be sent via Shimla Bypass-Ballupur Chowk-Garhi Cantt trijunction-Anarwala trijunction-Johri village-Mussoorie Road and Kuthal Gate to reach Mussoorie.

Those coming towards Mussoorie from Delhi will be sent towards Haridwar-Rishikesh and then on the Harrawala-Mohkampur flyover-Jogiwala-Puliya Number Chhe-Ring Road Ladpur trijunction-Sahastradhara Crossing-IT Park- Kirshali Chowk-Sai Mandir trijunction-Mussoorie Diversion and Kuthal Gate towards Mussoorie. Those travelling from Mussoorie to Delhi/Saharanpur/ Roorkee/Rishikesh/Haridwar will be sent via Kuthal Gate-Old Rajpur Road-Rajpur- Sai Mandir-Kurshali Chowk-IT Park-Tapovan bypass road- Nalapani Chowk-Tapovan Gate- Ladpur trijunction and Jogiwala towards Rishikesh/Haridwar/ISBT. The police will erect barriers at 10 points including Jogiwala, Bangali Kothi, Sahastradhara Crossing, Maharana Pratap Chowk in Raipur, Mussoorie Diversion, Shimla bypass, Asharodi, Kuthal Gate, Ballupur Chowk and Sai Mandir. Further the traffic from Mussoorie to Dehradun will be diverted from King Kraig to JP Bend and Barlowganj towards Jhadipani to reach the main road which will be one way.

The traffic from Picture Palace, Lal Tibba, Dhanaulti and Bataghat will also be diverted to JP Bend and Barlowganj to reach the main road via Jhadipani. Parking arrangements have been made in Mussoorie. From the Picture Palace to Landhaur Road, Jain Dharamshala, one side of the road and the municipality parking space will be available for parking vehicles. In addition to this, vehicles can be parked at the Company Garden parking, MDDA Library parking, Picture Palace taxi stand, Sylieston parking- Picture Palace, MDDA parking in Landhaur, town hall parking of the municipality at Kuldi, King Kraig parking and the multi storey parking at Kempty stand. Similarly, the traffic from Haridwar to Rishikesh will be sent from Nepali Farm to Bhaniyawala and Ranipokhri to reach Rishikesh.

A temporary parking facility will be available at Bharat Vihar on the banks of the Chandrabhaga river and near the old railway station. In order to lessen the traffic load, vehicles from outside will be able to reach Rishikesh via the Haridwar bypass road. In addition to personnel posted by the police to manage the traffic and parking system in Dehradun city, Mussoorie and Rishikesh, drones will also be used to monitor the traffic in Dehradun city and Mussoorie. Checks will also be conducted at the barrier points to prevent drunk driving and hooliganism. The Vikrams and city buses in Dehradun city may be diverted as per the requirement, the police said.
