A day after the successful soft landing of the spacecraft Chandrayaan-3, the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) scientists said that they had assessed the health of the Vikram lander shortly after it touched down the moon surface and the Pragyan rover lander, seated in the belly of the Vikram lander, rolled out of it. They further said that with this rollout has begun the Chandrayan-3’s science observation mission which is to go on for 14 days. ISRO chairman S Somanath added that the space agency would be working on a robotic path planning exercise that might aid future exploration of the moon. In an interview, the ISRO chairperson said the Aditya L1 solar observation mission is all set to be launched in September while work on India’s first crewed space mission, Gaganyaan is in progress. He further informed that the space agency would embark on a mission in October to demonstrate the crew module’s efficacy along with crew escape capabilities.
