500 people penalised for not wearing masks in Doon

Considering the recent increase in Covid-19 patients, the Dehradun district administration penalised about 500 people on Wednesday at various public places in Dehradun. The city magistrate Kusum Chauhan along with the police inspected Asharodi checkpost and ISBT and imposed penalties on over 100 people for not wearing masks. Besides this, the penalties were also imposed for violation of Covid protocols in Railway station, Paltan Bazaar besides public places in Raipur, Rajpur, Premnagar, Dalanwala, Vasant Vihar and Nehru Colony among others.

The city magistrate informed The Pioneer that the administration is imposing a fine ranging from Rs 100 to Rs 500 depending on the condition of the offender. “We are imposing a minimum of Rs 100 from small vendors or labourers for the violation just to imply not wearing masks can lead to consequences. We are also penalising parents if their children are not wearing masks in public places. The authorities have been directed to strictly ensure the compliance of Covid protocols in public places and take appropriate action against the offenders,” said Chauhan.
