The president of Uttarakhand unit of BJP Mahendra Bhatt has said that the approval of the President Droupadi Muru to the Uniform Civil Code (UCC) has elicited a wave of happiness in Uttarakhand. He said that Uttarakhand has become the first State in the country to implement UCC and expressed confidence that the experiences of Uttarakhand will help in paving the way for UCC in the country. Terming the accusations of the Congress party on UCC and Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) as politically motivated, Bhatt said that Uttarakhand is the best place in the country for the start of UCC. The opponents of the UCC do not want the women to become empowered.
He said that the Prime Minister Narendra Modi and home minister Amit Shah have made it clear on many occasions that the CAA is the law which deals with giving citizenship and not with snatching anyone’s citizenship. He said that the opposition is spreading canard over the CAA in a section of the society. He said that those supporting Rohingya Muslims see nothing wrong in the arson committed by them at the martyr’s memorial in Mumbai.
Bhatt said that the people understand the politics of appeasement and vote bank being played by the opposition parties on these issues.
