Cong holds protest in Dehradun on Farm bills

In protest against what it termed anti farmer Farm laws and the misbehaviour done with the agitating farmers in Delhi and Haryana by police the Uttarakhand Congress held a protest here on Saturday. The party also burned an effigy of the union government as a mark of the protest. Addressing the party workers at the Rajiv Bhawan, the Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) President Pritam Singh said that by passing the farm bills in the parliament, the Narendra Modi government has proved that it is more concerned about protecting the interests of capitalists and apathetic towards farmers. He also questioned the motive of the government by passing the farm bills during the time of Covid-19 pandemic.

Launching an attack on the government for police action on farmers, the PCC president said that action reminds of the atrocities done by the Britishers on Indians. He said that the Congress party strongly condemns the police action on farmers. The Vice President of Uttarakhand Congress Surya Kant Dhasmana, state general secretary organisation Vijay Saraswat, former Cabinet ministers Surveer Singh Sajwan, Matbar Singh Kandari, Hira Singh Bisht, former MLA Rajkumar and large number of Congress workers were present on the occasion.
