The new secretary in-charge of Health Dept & NHM MD lists his priorities

The secretary in-charge of medical, health and family welfare department and Mission Director (MD) of National Health Mission (NHM), R Rajesh Kumar has said that dereliction of duties and absenteeism in the department would not be tolerated. Interacting with the media persons here on Friday, he said that a quick response team (QRT) of senior officers of the department would be constituted that would hold surprise inspections of the hospitals. He said that strict action would be taken against the employees found missing from their duties. He disclosed that the department is working on providing door to door delivery of some basic medicines to the patients and apart from it the tele- medicine facility would be strengthened. 

 In view of the ongoing monsoon season and the  threat of disaster associated with it, Kumar said that medical officers would be deployed by the health department at the state and district disaster control rooms.  In response to a question, the secretary in-charge accepted that delivery of essential services is a major challenge for a state like Uttarakhand and the NHM would continuously strive to ensure that the health facilities are available to every citizen.  Kumar said that the department is in alert mode in view of the spread of dengue this year because this disease becomes more infectious after every three years. He said that the health department and the Asha workers are reaching out to every house to spread awareness about the disease. Kumar added that the hot spots of dengue are being identified and source reduction activity has been undertaken.

 On the increasing incidences of Covid-19 in the state, he said that apart from increasing sampling focus would be made on tracking and monitoring the positive patients. He said that the people should continue to follow the Covid appropriate behaviour. The Director NHM, Dr Saroj Naithani and other officers of the department were also present on the occasion.
