Amid ongoing tussle in the Uttarakhand Congress on the selection of the presidents of the district units, the former Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) president Pritam Singh has again attacked the in-charge of the State unit of the party, Devendra Yadav.

He said on Tuesday that it is for the in-charge to remain in constant touch with the leaders and workers and then take decisions. Singh said the party in charge of the party has remained away from the State after the Vidhan Sabha elections and is taking decisions on its own. In a virulent attack on Yadav, the former PCC president said that the person in charge should be a politically mature person and not someone who doesn’t know the ABC of politics.

The diatribe of Pritam Singh comes in the backdrop of ongoing discontentment in the leaders of the party over the recently released list of presidents of district and Mahanagar units. Venting his anger the Kiccha MLA and formidable leader from the Terai area Tilak Raj Behed had said on Monday that factionalism was the major cause of defeat of Congress in Vidhan Sabha elections of 2022. He also raised question on regional imbalance in Uttarakhand Congress by stating that all three important positions, the PCC president, the leader of opposition (LoP) in state assembly and deputy leader in State assembly are being occupied by the leaders from Kumaon region and the party has neglected the Garhwal region.
