HC grants short term bail to UKSSSC test leak accused

Chauhan granted bail on humanitarian grounds for treatment of his ailing wife

 The Uttarakhand High Court has granted short term bail to Lucknow based RMS printers director Rajesh Kumar Chauhan, an accused in the case of Uttarakhand Subordinate Services Selection Commission (UKSSSC) paper leak last year. The single bench of vacation judge Justice Sharad Kumar Sharma granted Chauhan short term bail for seven days for the treatment of his wife. Hearing on Chauhan’s short term bail application citing his wife’s ill health, the court granted him bail for a week on humanitarian grounds.

It will be recalled that Chauhan is accused in the leak of secretariat guard and village development officer recruitment test papers. He had been arrested by the Special Task Force (STF) of Uttarakhand on August 27 last year. Chauhan is the director of the Lucknow based RMS printing press and is accused of leaking the UKSSSC test papers from his press. He was booked under sections 420, 467, 468 and 409 among others of the IPC. Chauhan has been in jail since his arrest. Earlier, his bail application was rejected by a lower court in December last year.
