AIIMS Rishikesh gears up for convocation ceremony

The stage is set for the convocation ceremony to be held at the All India Institute of Medical Science (AIIMS) Rishikesh on July 13. Apart from conferring degrees, gold medals will be given away to 26 students during the convocation, the AIIMS officials informed, adding that the function could not be held for three years due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

On Tuesday, the executive director of AIIMS, Dr Meenu Singh reviewed the preparations for the convocation ceremony. She later said that the Union minister of state for Health and Family Welfare Bharti Praveen Panwar will be the chief guest of the convocation.

This will be the third   convocation at AIIMS. Earlier, the convocations were held twice-on November 3, 2018 and on March 14, 2020.

Giving information, the nodal officer in charge of the convocation Dr Latika Mohan said that 1041 students will be given degrees in course of the convocation. They include 38 students of MBBS 2013-14 batch and 96 students each of 2015 and 2016 batch.  “Twenty six students will be awarded gold medals,” she said and added that the convocation will start at 9.30 am in the main auditorium of the institute.
