Licenses of 9 drug companies cancelled after samples failed

In latest news from Doon, the Food Safety and Drug Administration (FDA) has cancelled licenses of nine drug manufacturing companies based in Uttarakhand after 11 drugs manufactured by these companies failed the laboratory sample test. Furthermore, these drugs have been withdrawn from market following FDA order.

Vigilance was hiked after some India-made medicines failed the sample test. The Union health department mandated once a month unannounced sample test of the medicines sold in markets.  And acting on this order, the Central Drug Standard Control Organisation (CDSCO) conducts surprise nation-wide raids and sends medicine samples to laboratories for test
