Thunderstorms with intense spells likely in State today

A day after heavy rains caused considerable damage in Uttarkashi district, the State meteorological centre has issued a warning (watch) regarding the possibility of thunderstorms accompanied with lightning and intense/very intense spells likely to occur at isolated places in districts of the State on Sunday. Further, light to moderate rain/thunderstorms are likely to occur at most places in Dehradun, Tehri, Pauri, Nainital, Champawat and at many places in the rest of the districts today.

The provisional State capital Dehradun is forecast to witness a partly to generally cloudy sky. Light to moderate rain/thundershowers are likely to occur in some areas. The maximum and minimum temperatures are likely to be about 31 degrees Celsius and 24 degrees Celsius respectively in Dehradun on Sunday.

The maximum and minimum temperatures recorded in various parts of the State on Saturday were 30.2 degrees Celsius and 25.2 degrees Celsius respectively in Dehradun, 36 degrees Celsius and 25.7 degrees Celsius in Pantnagar, 21 degrees Celsius and 15.6 degrees Celsius in Mukteshwar and 22.1 degrees Celsius and 17.5 degrees Celsius in New Tehri. There was 38.5 millimetres rain in Mussoorie, 34 millimetres in Vikasnagar, 20 millimetres in Dhanaulti, 13 millimetres in Kalsi and nine millimetres each in Chamba and Sonprayag.
