AIIMS- Rishikesh & four medical colleges of U’khand linked to the service

In view of the tough geological terrain and shortage of the expert doctors in its health services, the State Health department of Uttarakhand is focussing on strengthening telemedicine services in the State. The Health department has linked the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) Rishikesh and the government medical colleges of Srinagar, Dehradun, Almora and Haldwani with the telemedicine service.

The Health minister Dhan Singh Rawat said that more than nine lakh people in the State have so far availed the benefit of telemedicine services in the State. He said that the association of AIIMS Rishikesh and four government medical colleges with the scheme would ensure that the services of experts are availed by the people. The minister informed that Uttarakhand is in second position in the country in providing telemedicine services to the people. He said that free consultancy and treatment is being given to the people residing in remote and mountainous parts of the State under e- Sanjeevani.

He said that a hub and spoke model is being adopted in the telemedicine services under which 1,068 health and wellness centres are acting as telemedicine spokes while the AIIMS Rishikesh, four government medical colleges, 13 district hospitals and State NHM are working as hubs. Rawat claimed that more than four lakh people received the benefit of telemedicine services in the year 2022. The minister said that the average response time in telemedicine service in the State is two minutes while the average waiting time is eight minutes which is better than other States of the country.

With the help of e- Sanjeevani App, wellness centres and toll free 104 number anyone can avail the benefit of Telemedicine services from 9 AM to 6 PM on all weekdays.
