Two arrested for running prostitution racket, police rescue two victims

The police have arrested two gang members on the charge of running a prostitution racket and rescued two female victims belonging to different states. The Anti-Human Trafficking Unit (AHTU) of Dehradun nabbed the culprits- Pooja Pandey (30) and Sachin Kumar (25) in the Clement Town area when they were allegedly taking the two victims with them in their car on Thursday evening.The police said that the AHTU arrived at the location in Clement Town as per the information provided by their sources and nabbed the culprits. The police informed that they have recovered several incriminating materials from both  the accused. According to the victims, they both come from poor families and belong to Haryana and Madhya Pradesh but were residing in Delhi. They told the police that the accused lured them in the name of providing jobs but they were pushed into prostitution by them. They were taken to different locations in cities and were being brought to Dehradun city from the Selaqui area when the police caught them on Thursday evening, as per the victims. The police said that it was revealed on checking the mobiles of both accused that they both have formed several groups digitally like escort services among others in the name of different states where their racket has been active for years. The police said that the accused Sachin Kumar has revealed that he is involved in this prostitution racket for the past several years along with the other accused. They both have been active in Gurugram and now, they have started trafficking women from across the state for flesh trade with another partner Abhishek.The police have registered a case against both accused under the Immoral Traffic (Prevention) Act and Indian Penal Code (IPC) at the Clement Town police station and were presented to the court on Friday.
