Negative RTPCR report must for Haridwar Kumbh: HC

Confusion created by statement of CM Rawat cleared by court

Clearing confusion over the Kumbh Mela in Haridwar, the Uttarakhand High court (HC) has made it clear that a negative report of RTPCR test is mandatory for entry in Kumbh. The report should not be older than 72 hours. Confirming the order of HC, the chief secretary of Uttarakhand Om Prakash said that the Uttarakhand high court (HC) has said those visiting Haridwar during Kumbh should bring a negative report which should not be older than 72 hours or they should bring the report of their vaccination done against the disease. It is pertinent to mention here that immediately after assuming charge the chief minister of Uttarakhand, Tirath Singh Rawat had said that the Kumbh would be open for everyone and there would be no compulsion of bringing RTPCR report for the devotees during the Kumbh. His statement had created confusion as the union government’s SOP on Kumbh had made the negative Covid-19 report compulsory.
