Guv flags in NIM MTB cycling expedition at Raj Bhawan

The Governor Lieutenant General (retd) Gurmit Singh on Monday flagged in the MTB cycling expedition of Nehru Institute of Mountaineering (NIM) at Raj Bhawan. The team had completed the expedition to promote social awareness across Uttarakhand. A total of six members participated in this expedition which started on June 26 from Jadhong in Uttarkashi district.

This expedition passed through 11 districts of the State before culminating in Dehradun. The cycling team covered 1,062 kilometres during this expedition. While flagging in the expedition, Singh congratulated the team members for successfully completing this expedition and said that such expeditions would create awareness among the people as well as motivate them for adventure tourism activities. He also commended the team to have started the expedition from a “Vibrant Village” of Uttarakhand.

NIM principal Colonel Anshuman Bhadauria said that the expedition, organised under the Vibrant Village scheme launched by the Central government, was meant to blend health awareness with adventure activities in the youth while extending the message of comprehensive development of the border villages, employment at the local levels and boosting tourism. On this occasion, Lieutenant Colonel Manish Srivastava, PRO (Defence) Dehradun, Major Deval Bajpai, vice-principal of NIM and others were present.
