Many of the local residents and tourists alike had to resort to wearing warm clothing after the weather took a turn in Nainital on Saturday evening. A bit after 3 PM, the city experienced rain with strong winds and light hail. The drop in the temperature after the rain made the weather pleasant and caused many to wear warm clothing. Nainital had received rain some days after which the weather had been warm. However, the skies were cloudy since the morning on Saturday and the weather took a turn after 3 PM. A spell of rain accompanied by strong gusts made the weather pleasant. The tourists who have come here from different parts of the nation to seek relief from the heat in the plains could be seen enjoying the change in the weather. Meanwhile, the considerable numbers of tourists on the weekend here resulted in traffic congestion on the Mall Road and other main roads of the city. While 1,771 persons visited the zoo, 900 persons had visited the Cave Garden till 5 PM, 835 had visited the waterfall on Nainital-Kaladhungi road and 290 visited the Himalaya botanical garden. Many also enjoyed boating in the Naini lake till the spell of rain hampered this activity.
