Taking a step to encourage home stays, chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami decided to spend Sunday night at a home stay in Rawat Gaon in Pauri. The home stay belongs to major (retd) Gorki Chandola and is located in the village at a distance of about five kilometres from Pauri. Dhami also interacted with the villagers.

While checking out the home stay built in the traditional Pahadi style, the chief minister appreciated it and also asked about products made from Ringal. He said that there is considerable scope for home stays in Uttarakhand, adding that homestays are playing a major role in facilitating self employment and developing a self-reliant Uttarakhand. The interest of people in home stays is rising consistently as the visitors also get an opportunity to learn about the traditional food and culture of Uttarakhand while staying in home stays.

The State government is also working to encourage home stays consistently, he said. Cabinet minister Dhan Singh Rawat, MLA Rajkumar Pori and villagers were also present on the occasion. Later on Monday morning, Dhami went around the village and interacted with the locals. He stressed that development of Gram Sabha is essential for development of the nation. The villages are a treasure of the State’s ancient culture and preserving them is a collective responsibility. Dhami also planted a sapling in the village on the occasion.
