Chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has said that the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) Rishikesh is a blessing for the people of the State and nearby areas of other states. Terming AIIMS as the centre of the aspirations of the people, the CM said that people have immense faith in the institute. He was addressing a gathering after inaugurating the Paediatric Child Care Unit (PICU) at AIIMS Rishikesh on Friday.

He said that 114 acres of land has been transferred by the State government to AIIMS Rishikesh for construction of a satellite centre at Kichha of Udham Singh Nagar district. He expressed hope that the AIIMS administration would start the construction work there soon.

Dhami said that Uttarakhand is a unique State in terms of tough geographical terrain and providing health facilities to the remote areas of the mountainous state is no less than a challenge. In such a situation, the AIIMS Institute can play the role of a mentor in health-related schemes, he opined.

The Executive Director of AIIMS- Rishikesh Dr Meenu Singh said that AIIMS Rishikesh would provide health facilities like robotic medicine and telemedicine in the future.  She added that AIIMS Rishikesh is working on a special plan to eradicate deadly diseases like tuberculosis.

The head of department (HoD) of Department of paediatrics Dr Navneet Bhatt said that the PICU unit would have 16 beds.

Cabinet ministers Premchand Agarwal,Subodh Uniyal, Rishikesh Mayor Anita Mamgain and others were present on the occasion.
