In latest Uttarakhand news, the carcass of a female leopard was found near the Ramnagar-Marchula National Highway in Nainital district. On being informed, the forest department team rushed to the spot and took the carcass in its custody. Later, a veterinary team led by the State veterinary department officer Ayush Uniyal conducted autopsy of the carcass. Thereafter, it was cremated as per the norms laid down in the SOP. According to the senior district forest officers, after the autopsy was conducted, the viscera were sent to Indian Veterinary Research Institute in Bareilly and the Wildlife Institute of India in Dehradun as per the National Tiger Conservation Authority norms.
