EC to provide voting from home facility to 10,390 voters above 85 yrs in U’khand

A total of 10,390 people who are above 85 years of age have requested the election commission to provide the voting facility from their home in the State. The State has 65,0160 such voters who are more than 85 years of age and are eligible for the voting from home facility.

The additional chief electoral officer (ACEO) Uttarakhand, Vijay Kumar Jogdande said that application forms were provided to all the senior citizens who are more than 85 years of age regarding availing the vote from home facility. He added that the State has 80,330 Persons with Disabilities (PWD) voters and out of them 5,576 have applied for voting by postal ballot.  He said that March 25 was the last date for applying for the postal ballots and now the district election officers will provide the facility of the postal ballots to the eligible voters.  The officers will visit the homes of the voters with postal ballots between April 8 to April 10 in the first phase. The second phase of the activity for the voters who were not available in their homes in the first phase will be done after April 10.

 The ACEO said that arrangement of minimum facility is made in all 11729 polling booths in the State. The facility of ramp is available in 94 per cent while facility of drinking water, furniture and shade is available in 97-98 per cent of booths.

 The EC has provided the facility of Saksham App to all the PwD and 85 plus age group voters. In this App 1524 applications for wheelchairs have been received while 994 such voters have requested for the facility of palanquin. Apart from them, 5,910 such voters have applied for the facility of  volunteers.

 The ACEO Uttarakhand added that free and cashless treatment facilities will be provided to the personnel deployed on election duty. A booth level health management plan has been set in place in which information about the nearest health facility is being provided. Jogdande said that a total of 9,318 complaints have been received so far in the C-Vigil App and 8,930 complaints have been disposed of.
