The State Commission for Protection of Child Rights (SCPCR) has asked the district Chief Education Officer (CEO) Pradeep Rawat to revoke the affiliation of Sun Valley School in Dehradun. Member of the SCPCR, Vinod Kaparwan informed that the school previously denied admission to children under the Right to Education (RTE) Act. After becoming aware of the situation, the commission called the representatives of the school to provide their documents to the commission.

“During the meeting, the school management shared that they have submitted an application to the CEO requesting the removal of their school from the RTE list. After reviewing all the information, the commission has directed the school to enroll the 25 students within one week,” Kaparwan said.

He further stated that the school management does not comply with the commission’s directions. Apart from this, the school management did not present any evidence/record of the minority status of the school. Considering all these factors, the commission wrote a letter to the CEO and demanded that it be de-affiliated for attempting such irregularity against the students enrolled under the RTE Act, he added.
